Rep. Jeff Holy, R-Spokane, was sworn in Jan. 14 for his first term as 6th District state representative.

“I’m excited to get started working for the people of my district,” Holy said. “There is much to be done to address the budget, funding education and getting Washington back to work, and I look forward to being part of the solution.”   In the oath of office, Holy stated he would: “uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, the Constitution and laws of the State of Washington, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of the office of a Washington State Representative to the best of my ability.”

He will serve on three House committees:

Government Accountability and Oversight (as the assistant ranking Republican);

Labor and Workforce Development; and,

Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

“These assignments match nicely with my background in law enforcement, our district’s potential for economic development, and feedback I’ve received from neighbors about how government provides services,” Holy said. “Though I will spend a great deal of time learning about these issues, I will also stay informed on education and health care- two other important issues for Spokane.”   Holy was sworn in with 20 other “freshmen” lawmakers in the House of Representatives on the first day of the legislative session.

The 2013 session is scheduled for 105 days.
