House votes to abolish law enforcement quotas

Johnson: Jeff Holy, a Republican lawmaker in the House.  The former law enforcement officer and police detective says quotas take away from personal integrity in policing.

Holy: “This bill will restore a police officer’s integrity and allows ticket issuance where appropriate, not where demanded.  And it prevents an officer from being forced to provide a source of sustainable revenue on his employer’s behalf.”

Johnson: Holy says the majority of officers today are under immense pressure to perform.  Revenue-based policing, he says, is one reason why.

House Bill 2399 passed 95 to 2, and now heads to the Senate.
